01Who we are
This website, evolut.com.au, is run by Evolut Group Pty Ltd ("Evolut", "we", "us"). We're a brand and growth studio working from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through this website and when you deal with us. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
02What we collect
We collect only what we need to reply to you and do our work. Depending on how you deal with us, that can include:
- Enquiry and contact forms: your name, email address, company, your message, and the answers you choose to give (for example, what you'd like help with).
- Field notes sign-up: your email address, so we can send you our field notes.
- Emails and calls: whatever you choose to tell us when you contact us directly, and our notes of the conversation.
- Clients: the business contact details and information we need to deliver and invoice the work you've engaged us for.
We don't ask for sensitive information, such as health details, and we'd ask you not to include it in a form or message.
Like almost every website, the companies that host and deliver this site (see Forms and our form handler and Fonts from Google) automatically receive standard technical details from your browser, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, so they can deliver the site and keep it secure. We don't use these details to identify you.
03How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you: when you fill in a form on this site, sign up for field notes, email us, or talk with us. We don't buy contact lists.
You can browse this website without telling us who you are. If you'd like a reply, we'll need a way to reach you, usually an email address. You're welcome to use a name other than your own when you first get in touch, although once we work together we'll need real details to deliver and invoice the work.
04Why we use it
We use your personal information to:
- reply to your enquiry and arrange a call if you ask for one;
- prepare a written proposal, and deliver the work if you engage us;
- send you field notes, if you've signed up for them;
- run our business, including keeping records and meeting our legal obligations.
We won't use your information for anything unrelated without your consent, unless the law requires or allows it. We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't add enquiry details to a mailing list unless you've signed up.
Every field notes email includes a way to unsubscribe. You can also just reply and ask, or email ben@evolut.com.au, and we'll take you off the list.
06Fonts from Google
The typefaces on this site are loaded from Google Fonts. To display them, your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address and basic browser details. We don't receive this information. Google's handling of it is covered by its privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
07Cookies and local storage
This site sets no cookies. We don't use analytics, advertising cookies, tracking pixels or retargeting.
The one thing the site stores is your colour preference, if you choose one with the colour switch in the header. It's saved in your browser's local storage so the site looks the same next time you visit. It stays on your device, isn't sent to us, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
08Who we share it with
We share personal information only where we need to, with:
- service providers who help us run the website and our business, such as Cloudflare (hosting), Resend (form email delivery) and our email provider;
- professional advisers, such as our accountant or lawyer, where needed;
- anyone else you ask us to share it with, or where the law requires or allows it.
We expect the service providers we use to protect personal information and use it only to provide their services.
09Information sent overseas
Some of the services we use store or process information outside Australia. In particular, form submissions pass through Cloudflare and Resend in the United States, and Google may process the technical details sent when fonts load in other countries. Other providers we use may also store information overseas.
Before we use a service that stores personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to make sure it handles that information in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
10Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. That includes limiting access to the people who need it and using services that secure the information they hold.
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the reasons above, or as the law requires. After that we delete it or de-identify it.
If we ever have a data breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we'll tell the people affected and, where required, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
11Links to other sites
This site links to other websites, including RocMode (rocmode.com), where you can get a free RocMode Score. RocMode is a separate service with its own privacy policy, and anything you enter there is handled under that policy, not this one. The same goes for any other site we link to, so please check their policies too.
12Seeing and correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it's wrong, out of date or incomplete. Email ben@evolut.com.au.
We may need to confirm who you are first. We'll respond within 30 days, and there's no charge to ask. If we can't give you access or make a correction, we'll explain why in writing and tell you how to complain.
13Making a complaint
If you think we've mishandled your personal information, please tell us first so we can put it right. Email ben@evolut.com.au with the details. We'll acknowledge your complaint, look into it, and respond in writing within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
14Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy when the way we handle personal information changes, for example if we add a new service to the website. The current version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
